A radiant transition from day to night, where colour, memory and the rhythm of the sea converge.

Available Original

Twilight’s Saffron Shroud is an original oil painting inspired by Downend Point at Croyde, North Devon, capturing the brief transition between daylight and twilight. Rich oranges and deep reds spread across the sky before giving way to cooler violets and blues as evening begins to take hold.

Below, clean lines of swell move steadily towards the shore and break over the reef, balancing the intensity of the sky with the familiar rhythm of the sea. Shaped by years of surfing and close observation of this coastline, the painting brings together changing light, atmosphere and personal memory of a familiar North Devon landscape.

Artwork & Finish

Painted in oils on panel, the work combines layered applications of paint with controlled brushwork and finely blended passages to build depth and luminosity. The smooth, rigid panel allows subtle tonal transitions and finer edges to remain clearly defined, while a protective varnish enriches the depth of the oil colour and protects the finished surface.
