Spellbinder is an original mixed-media painting in which sinuous biomorphic forms weave through a dense network of pathways, suggesting vines, pipes and organic conduits spreading across an ancient constructed surface. Architectural and natural forms merge throughout the composition, creating an ambiguity between structures that appear built, grown or gradually reclaimed.

Its larger scale gives the work an immersive quality, with accumulated pathways and weathered forms appearing to continue beyond the edges of the canvas. Rooted in biomorphic surrealism, psychedelic abstraction and visionary painting, Spellbinder brings organic growth and ancient structure together within a richly layered environment.

Artwork & Finish

Created on canvas using acrylic paints, acrylic inks, airbrush, sand and crushed shells, Spellbinder has an irregular raised surface that gives the biomorphic forms a sculptural, relief-like presence. Earth tones and rich burnt umber reinforce its weathered character, while a satin varnish protects the finished work and allows changing light to reveal subtle variations in texture and shadow.
