Feel the expansive freedom of the open moor, the wind whispering secrets across the land.

Available Original

High Moorland Symphony is an original oil painting inspired by the elevated landscapes of Exmoor, where open moorland, expansive skies and uninterrupted horizons create a powerful sense of space and freedom. Warm earth tones, deep crimsons and siennas build the foreground before the land gradually recedes towards the distant horizon.

Richly textured moorland contrasts with the broad atmospheric sky above, where softer transitions suggest changing weather and light moving across the landscape. Painted from direct experience of walking the high moor, the work captures the relationship between the physical presence of the land and the openness that characterises Exmoor’s highest ground.

Artwork & Finish

Painted in oils on panel, the work combines layered applications of paint with richly applied palette-knife impasto across the foreground. These pronounced areas of texture contrast with thinner, more fluid passages in the sky, creating a varied physical surface. A satin varnish protects the finished painting while maintaining a subtle, even sheen.
