Light flickers across the river, drawing you gently through shadow into a place of quiet green.
Available Original
Golden Green is an original gouache painting inspired by the ancient woodland of the East Lyn River between Watersmeet and Rockford in Exmoor National Park. The gently flowing river fills much of the foreground, its reflective surface carrying shifting patches of blue sky, woodland shadow and filtered light.
Darker trees frame the water before gradually opening towards a luminous green clearing beyond, drawing the eye through the sheltered woodland. Painted from direct observation, the work captures the quiet relationship between moving water, reflection and ancient trees within one of Exmoor’s most distinctive river valleys.
Artwork & Finish
Painted in gouache on textured paper, the work combines layered opaque and semi-opaque colour with softer, more delicate passages. Successive layers build variations in depth, colour and tone, while the texture of the paper remains subtly visible within the naturally matt painted surface.
