An energetic study of flight, movement and interaction shaped through form and light.
Available Original
Fly 2 is an original sculptural relief artwork inspired by the aerial movement of swifts and swallows. Elongated biomorphic forms are connected by sweeping lines that arc, cross and extend through the composition, translating the fluid dynamics of flight into an abstract sculptural language.
Rather than depicting individual birds, the interconnected structures suggest invisible pathways created as flight paths overlap, separate and reconnect. The open composition encourages the eye to follow different routes through the work, while changing light and shadow continually alter the definition and movement of the raised forms.
Artwork & Finish
Hand-built in natural sand on canvas, the work uses subtle variations in depth to create its flowing raised sculptural forms and connecting lines. A brilliant white gloss monochrome finish protects and visually unifies the surface, while changing light casts subtle shadows that reveal the contours and depth of the relief.
