I have been developing my techniques and methods for creating these sand painting for over 10 years now. The sand is hand layered to produce beautiful, curvaetous, sculptural areas of relief, that stand proud of the canvas. Generally I paint them white, the shadow that is cast by the layered relief becomes the most interesting aspect of the painting. They are wonderfully minimal, yet complex artworks, that interact with the ambient light, be it natural or artificial. Being semi-sculptural they have a fantastic tactile nature.The artworks enhance the atmosphere where ever they are displayed.
